Been reading other posts on this.

Basically the controller has died (just realized this after drive imaging perfect) and requesting the case

does the initio chip board hold specific info or can you match the model and slot it into another case?

thanks

andy

From what I understand you can put the drive into another, identical, case. So if you can get another WDBAAG0010HCH-01 (board number 4061-705059) then you can hook the drive up to that USB-SATA board and it should work.

I've seen a few of these where the problem is just the USB connector that has come loose, have you checked that?

Hi,

I've got such WD too. But my problem is a little different.

I used My Book for some time. Got some info on it. And then decided to "unfasten" INITIO USB controller and to use the disk via SATA. But Windows7 detected the disk as unallocated. I switched off my PC immediatly and restored the USB-controller. But now I cannot see my info even via USB.
Earlier I saw 2 disks:
1) virtual CD with WD programs and
2) usual HDD with 900+ GB for my data.
Windows showed 2 letters (e.g. E: and F:). Now I see only the virtual CD and no 2-nd letter disk.

How on Earth can I make the USB controller to detect HDD and read my data?

No, Sir.

I just noticed that smth was wrong and switched my PC off (normal termination of session, of course).

The 1-st 2K of disk is dumped here.

2 einstein9: I've downloaded Partition Find & Mount and started a scan. Slow progress... Wait :)

Well, the progress reached 99% and seemingly stopped.

if your drive was working and you only removed it from the usb and connect it direct you will not see ur data
by putting it back, u will not see ur partition

by using this freeware it should read ur partition and mount it via USB back again

It runs for 18 hours by now.
After 6 or 7 hours from start it reached 99 % and no visible changes from that time. Should I break the scan? As far as I know, there is only 1 partition on the disk. And 1 partition is detected.

And, break scan or not, what is the next step? For dummy, pls!

So I can break it?

Before the Partition Find & Mount program I've launched DDME one. Here is a dump. Isn't it the info you ask?

Its likely there is something wrong so I would stop the scan and check any results.

Then I would then check the smart attributes.

Then I would very likely check the drive in Dmde to see what partition info is available.

Well, I stopped the scan. Here are the properties of partition found.

The choice is not too rich:

- to create the image file

Please tell me is the dump (my previous post) shows that partition info?
