Hello Hddgurus,

I wanted to delete 1 Partition but mistakenly (I didn't read carefully) my whole hardrive got deleted. (I aborted the deletion process after a few seconds by unplugging the drive as soon as I realized my mistake)

I did a Superscan with "active Partition Recovery" on my 2 TB Harddrive.
I got the "partition overlap error" which prevents me from recovering my partitions.
I googled and found out, to solve the partitition overlap error I have to delete the invalid partitions that cause the overlap.

now I have 2 Problems:

1. I can't delete any partitions as the "delete invalid partition" command is greyed out and not clickable
2. As 24 partitions are recovered (even though I "only" had 5 partitions before the deletion) I can't tell for sure which partitions are invalid and which are not.

I have a 700GB partition that is most precious to me, called "Elements", I really want to recover that even if it means the rest gets lost.
The Superscan gave me multiple partitions called Elements. 2 of them even have the right 700 GB size and a bunch of other partitions called "Elements" were 50 MB, 1,5 TB, 900 GB etc.

Only the first 2 partitions are in such a good condition so that they can be opened. They contain all the data i want to recover, so I can SEE all the files I want to have, I just can't recover them yet.

Can I delete all the other partitions with the poor and bad status without any risk?

between the 2 good partitions which is the right one? Both show all files, one is in excellent shape the other in good shape. Can I simply delete the good partition and recover the excellent partition without problems?

also, regarding problem 1, I have no clue on how to solve it. Could anybody tell me what I have to do, so the program allows me to delete my invalid partitions?

Thanks!

P.S.:
a picture containing my partitions and the greyed out "delete invalid partition" command. Also at the bottom the overlap error can be read:

Hi,

I do not know that app, but if I were you, I would be careful in what to do next.
Or go to a pro to get your data in perfect condition, or else image your drive first of all.

Agree with dmarques.
Image your disk and then play with the image. Otherwise, deleting partitions you don't know, will bring you tears.

I would suggest you drop the application you are using and try R-Studio. See if recovers your data (most likely it will), and if it does, buy it.

I've made it!

I can't delete partitions from the scan, only partitions that are already created on that drive.

My harddrive should have been full of unallocated partition, but instead it was a big damaged partition
The partitions that were overlapping weren't the different partitions from the scan that I tried to recover, but this one damaged partition that already existed and the one I tried to recover.

In short:

All I had to do was delete (not format!) the existing, damaged partition, so it changed to an unallocated partition.

Now, when I clicked recover on a partition, it just took 10 seconds and the whole 700GB partition reappeared. ALL Files are working, not a single one damaged.

Three days ago I tried the software "PC Inspector File Recovery". I let it run for 24hrs straight, and it found not a single file (remaining time until my disk would be fully scanned: 560 days)
Two days ago I tried the recovery software "ZAR" (zero assumption recovery) it was quite fast, did a full scan in about 18 hours and it found every single file of my partition.
But when I tried to recover them 90% were damaged and didn't work.

Active Partition took a bit longer (at least the superscan variante about 20 hours) but now that I knew what i had to do, everything is fully recovered. Videos are playing, images, pdfs, mp3s everything works! =)
