Hey folks,

in my windows 7, from past 5 days there was this message which pops up every now n then saying windows detected a problem with these drives.. i have WD 500 GB hard disk. i downloaded the data guard diagnostics tool(WD site), initial launch its showed me SMART result as failed.
i did a extended test which was also fail. then there was this dialogue saying, 'there are some bad sectors which may be repaired'. after i clicked ok it showed me another message saying 'Please backup all you data before repair starts. data in these drive will not be available after repaired'. i did not take backup just thought there might be more minor problems and click ok again. after few minutes it says bad sector repair failed. those drives are now inaccessible.
PLEASE SUGGEST me how to recover them? any particular recovery software or WD has Acronis true image backup software. will that help?

I can see those drives but cannot open them.

This sounds like an easy-to-deal problem for someone with typical DR skills. Or, perhaps, maybe not.

I suggest you download trial version of R-Studio or any other reliable software (like Get Data Back, File Scavenger and so on) and scan your disks with it. Most probably it will recover your files. If success, buy a license of this software and then copy the recovered files to another disk. If not success, post here the reasons of failure and someone will help you.

Of course, it is better to make a clone of your disk before attempting anything else. Then work with the clone of the disk.
