i am trying to get passed this password issue, i have read through various threads about the topic, i have tried all the lowlevel format /wiping programs to no avail. i tried running mhdd with a script to return the password but that fails with "no drq". i assume this is failing because the adddress registers are for the western digital drives??? if so does any one know what i need to put in the script to make it work??

Buy the proper tools (thousands EUR) or have it unlocked with one of the many remote/online services available, or contact the nearest pro.

drive was removed from a scrap printer, it was used by the printer for retaining job que information and such like, decided to use it as a spare drive but low and behold it could not be seen and after further investigiation its locked via a password.
its a high security password. Not interested in paying out silly money to get it unlocked as it wouldnt be worth it. I was just bored and thought i would see if it could be unlocked. maybe someone knows how to do it, and can point me in the right direction.

Of course we know, and it can be fixed. But this info has "other use" too, unfortunately. Understood ?

yeah i understand it can be used by other people to go and get data for shadier purposes. I guess i need to be able to extract the data from the firmware on the drive. If its going to be more hassle than its worth then i will just bin it.

P.S. maybe providing a decent proof of ownership or a declaration of responsibility some pro near you should UNLOCK AND ERASE at a price of few £.
