Ace's UDMA can handle this in the utility settings in DE.

Best regards,

Dobre

I've got similar problem.
SMART shows a few hundred bad sectors.
The problem is it scans well in MHDD (shows some UNC and S). Average speed is 40MB/s.
While making the clone (DMDE), copying speed is incredibly slow - 1MB/min.
The same result when using ATOF in MHDD.
Is there a way to speed it up ?

Windows is probably downgrading the transfer mode from DMA to PIO.

Try cloning with ddrescue from a Ubuntu Live CD or USB flash drive.

Windows has difficulty dealing with a deteriorated drive. Hence, why the drive works better/faster in MHDD.

As fzabkar suggestion implies, you have to work outside of Windows, where you are in control as oppose to Windows.

this issue looks pending bug + weak heads; i faced it last week exactly on 7200.9 400Gb.
partially solved on pc3k, now i need to wait new heads to finish cloning.
Don't try to clone it without fixing it , or ur heads ( if left un-attended) will mechanically demaged the drive.
