HI i have got a typical maxtor N40P with "Z "in the fw,
safe mode with loader i was able to read all modules,
but unfortunately no modules were demaged!
- i cleared smart and sa verification with reassign bad sectors
- exit utility - entering again: now drive can arrive to utility start without displayng "SAFE MODE"
but it show still FW NAR6159Z.
- if i try start utility directly it show me error:
Initialization error: Read Roadmap and Device Error detecked.

Unless you have alredy tried the following...

There is a distinct procedure in the pc3000 manual for this. Compatible loader is necessary. In my experience, some drives are difficult to find compatible loaders for.
