I have a drive from a camcorder that I am trying to recover accidentally erased movies from. (Before you ask, The camcorder does not allow pc access by design, so that's out)

The drive is a 1" 8 GB Hitachi Microdrive, HMS361008M5CE00. It has a ZIF connector smaller than any I had seen before. I enclosed a photo for comparison. In the photo, the connector in question is to the right of the word 'Hitachi' and the blue end of a ribbon cable from a standard 1.8" PATAZIF connector is placed next to it for size comparison. It's about half as wide as the ribbon cable.

I found a link in another topic suggesting to get an ExcelStor G Stor Mini8 GB GSMS7008-001 because it uses the same drive internally but has a simple USB out. It's a fine idea except that product seems to be out of production. No one else seems to make small external drives based around Microdrives anymore (can you blame them?).

So, I am looking for a hand in finding an adapter to IDE or SATA for this socket, or a USB drive that uses this same connector. Thanks!

Thanks for the link, but it looks like that adapter is not correct. I should have stated earlier that the small zif connector on the drive has only 35 pins. I thought I had every ata-whatever adapter around. I have adapters for compact flash to ata, sata to ata, 1.8" zif to ata, etc. but this one is unique.

I also am looking for an adapter for this, though just to play with for now. For info: The drive uses a PATA interface with a .3mm pitch 35 pin connector. If you need new drives NewEgg is selling refurbished ones for $4.99. (6 GB)
