Are there any commercial disk cloning software packages out there that use
DDrescue or DD_Rescue as their algorithm?

I am a computer tech who occasionally comes across failing drives that need
to be imaged. I quite honestly do not have time to learn linux commands
in order to run all the features DDRescue or DD_Rescue.

While Acronis True Image and Ghost will crap out at the slightest whiff of failure and DDRescue needs a good knowledge of Linux - is there any software which lies somewhere the middle?

Hardware imagers are better & quicker than software plus they can control power resets. Best advice would be to invest in a deepspar imager or take a look at atola.

None of the data recovery or imaging solutions are really push the red button and go. The DeepSpar Disk Imager is an excellent tool not cheap but neither is the Atola another good tool both have many options to improve the clone process on failing drives I saw 1000% improvement when I got my DDI over what you are currently using as I was doing the same. Linux has many great tools for DR DDrescue is a great tool as well. DDI is way better but not free. get a DDI and your golden ! and do yourself a HUGE favor and learn Linux its really not that hard.

The Dmde software has regular updates.
That IO error script only works with the paid for version but you would also have to purchase the power controller.

Anyway the free Dmde software will allow imaging to file or to a drive. Using the Device Access Parameters function the retry count etc can be set in advance but unfortunately not while the programme is running. I personally think the free software is a great little package and well worth a try out. I don't know anybody with the paid for version & power controller but I think for occasional use with your work it would be a very usefull cost effective tool. Probably best to avoid the beta versions!

The power controller would also work with the Hdduplicator imaging app which runs in Dos. Hdduplicator always looked promising but there appears to be a lack of support and information about it. There is a minimal amount of info on the dmde website.

Thanks for the explanation I do not use DMDE, especially the commercial version with power controller (similar function with HD Duplicator from Copyrsoft), that's why I don't know any updates about it.

Probably OP now has several options.

Hardware cloners seem the way to go.

CopyRsoft looks like it has been left untouched since 2008.

DMDE is all in Polish.

DMDE is the Best available software as it has no. of additional features. Hd duplicator is a dedicated cloning tool & does not perform any other functions. Mediatools is again having limited functionality.
DMDE can be used extensively to analyse partitions /perform scan /cloning with report generation. Data listing etc.
I am very much satisfiled with dmde.

I agree. I have purchased the full version and since I explored it's full capabilities I am using it every day.
