Hi Guys,

I've got a Segate Momentus 5400.6 500GB 2.5" with stiction fault.
This is the first stiction i came across.

Any tips and Technic on how to solve this issue?

Quite often you'll find you need to replace the head stack as the heads can get damaged during the process of moving them back to the ramp.

With experience you'll find safer and better ways of getting them off without damaging them. Give them a thorough inspection when they are off the platters.

What Nick says is very important. Stiction can be solved with a little practice, but if heads are damaged and you move them back to ramp and then power up the drive, it can cause severe media damage.

So one must be quite sure heads are ok after solving stiction.

I guess the safest bet then would be to do a head swap after poping the head off the platter. More costly but at least you would know the heads are ok unless you damage them in the head swap process.

Always safer to swap out the heads with a good set just to be safe. Assuming your head swap technique is spot on of course :)
