That may mean your drive has some FW issue.
It's under warranty?

In fact, I assumed it was a firmware problem, but I have not found info on the web or solutions.

To solve that issue you would some special tools + knowledge to work it out.
So if data is not important, I would just replace the drive by another one.

The disc is not blocked by any type of key and contains 180 GB of technical information vital to my business ....
It is essential to recover its contents. I'm not a newbie in this but the first time I am the problem.

If you're not a newbie, you are already familiar with FW problems, and with tools like PC3000 or Atola, to deal with those FW issues.
The problem is if you don't have the tools, you cannot do it on your own, you have to outsource.

And you were trying to low-level format it?!?!?

Stop touching it immediately and give it to someone who isn't going to destroy your data!

Yes, I have an backup. The problem is I live in Cuba. It is very difficult to find spare parts and I could purchase at least 320gb disk for my laptop. (my only computer)

Firstly I would check your backup works & that you can recover/access your important data.
If it does work & the backup is up to date then why are you trying to recover data from the faulty drive? just buy a new drive? If your having isssues buying a replacement drive why not buy one online from somewhere else or another country & get it shipped to you?

In Cuba, because of the Helms-Burton Law Yankee is impossible to access any online payment, even using third countries. The same difficulties obtaining spare parts in the country. The only way is to send money abroad using "mules", paying almost double what it costs the piece .... If you're lucky you even bring it with no chance of warranty .... I prefer to exhaust the possibilities of recovery .....
