I have a Hitachi HDT725032VLA380 ATA drive which was originally configured as two 325GB partitions ( C: and D:) They were set up as a RAID array by HP. i was recently hit by a virus that destroyed the D: partition. I booted up a Paragon CD, and erased the C: partition. When I rebooted Paragon, it only recognized 325GB on the disk, which I reformatted and reinstalled Win7 64bit. No software seems to recognize the unused 325GB that used to be the D: partition. Is there any way to retrieve it? Should I erase the C: partition again and low level format the drive? Should I detach the cables to the drive and try to re-recognize it? I also must add, that I changed the BIOS to ACHI instead of RAID, because it took forever to boot up.

The HDT725032VLA380 is a 320GB drive. Your RAID array must have had a second 320GB drive.

This is impossible, there must be another drive attached to this array, presumably a RAID-0.

If it was a raid 0 and you reformatted and reinstalled windows on the first drive then your chances of getting any previous data back is slim to none.

I just double checked the specs on the HP site. I have a Pavilion m8120, and it comes with a 640GB (not650) Hitachi HD in a RAID0 array of 2 320GB partitions. It's not imperative to get the data back, I just want to get the missing 320GB back.

But the drive you gave us with with the reference on it is only a 320GB HDD. You say you have 2 HDD on there that is where the other partition is on. The second HDD. I am sure you should have 2 Hitachi HDD in there and not just one. Open it up and take a look.

Sorry can not make a 320GB HDD into 2 320GB partitions on this one. Does not work this way. RAID you have to have 2+ HDD in your system.

since you just confirmed it was a raid 0 I would just give up on that previous data. You need the data from both drives to rebuild the raid 0, and you admitted to reinstalling windows 7 on the other drive. So you are pretty much hosed. It may be possible to rebuild it get some raw data back, but it will not be pretty and most of it may not work correctly.

Perhaps I better start from scratch. My HP m8120 came with ONE 640GB Hitachi drive. It was partitioned as 2 320GB drives ( C: and D:) in a RAID0 array. I later added an HP Personal Drive made by Seagate (320GB) ( The L: Drive) which fits into a bay in the front of the desktop. The 320GB D: drive no longer is recognized as either a separate logical drive, or unallocated space on the C: drive. I hope this clarifies the confusion!

This is incorrect.

The HDT725032VLA380 drive you alluded to is a 320GB drive, not 640GB, nor is it a Seagate drive.

Impossible! You gave us the reference of the HDD HDT725032VLA380 it is 320GB HDD not a 640GB HDD. Look it up on Internet if you do not want to believe us on this one. There is no way you can make this one drive give you 640GB Sorry IMPOSSIBE! Will never happen.

Look again. You are not seeing something in this. what you say is not correct and what you give us is not correct. It can never happen.

Look up RAID 1 on the Internet. A RAID 1 has to have 2+ disks. Look up RAID. RAID is + 1 disk to make a RAID ARRAY. Sorry some searching on the Internet will tell you this one.

Try looking again inside this computer and see how many disks you have in there. Look again at the reference of the Hitachi HDD and look at how many LBA is on this drive. You will find all you need to know on the label of this drive. Take a look. There is no way to double the capacity of this one HDD and make it a partition of two equal disk sizes of 325GB sorry.

Alright guys, you are all correct about there being two 320GB drives in a RAID0 array. The problem still is that only one drive is being recognized. I'm not worried about the data on the second 320GB disk, I just want to know if there is a way to get the system to recognize that it is there so I can reformat it!

Do you actually have the missing drive in your hand? Does it spin up?
