Hello friends,
symptoms : spin up, make calibration, stays busy for 30 seconds and get DRDY, DRSC bur not recognized.
There's two strange sounds after calibration.

any thoughts/ideas ?
P.S :I don't have PC3K UDMA

Had one last week with exactly the same symptom. 2 of the heads were dying, required headswap in my case.

I will try to search for a donor to perform a headswap (It's very difficult here in Egypt to find a donor for those hitachi's)

After replacing 4heads the drive make the same thing.
The problem must be ELSEWHERE.

Any suggestions ?

Put the heads back into the donor, do they still work?
Maybe you have some media damage.

Hello Mr.Nick_CT,
I have moved the patient's heads to the donor and it working. So the problem not heads.
I believe now that the problem not head/s or preamp. It must be FW, but I don't have the proper tool to access the SA for those new hitachis.
