Because it's a seized spindle I only require the chassis to be identical, Would these drives be compatible?

Also, Does the 7200.11 series use acoustic spacers?

It's just NOT a matter of identical "chassis".

IF the spindle was seized because of DROPPED DRIVE, inspect the pack especially at H0 side for "surprises"
THEN, you'll potentially face two other problems : possible shift and leveling.

Ah, I have spotted my mistake. The drive is a Barracuda 7200.10

The models you describe are .10, not .11.

The first one is 2-platter drive, while the second one is 3-platter.
Also, .10 's are tough ones on platter swap.
I suggest to practice A LOT before trying on customer drives.

If I were to ask you to give to me all the information and knowledge you have spent many years (or 17 months) researching and learning, would you give it to me with nothing in return?

For the most part here people are willing to help, will share knowledge and offer friendly assistance. But sometimes giving this help only complicates issues, such as giving a newbie tips on platter alignment during his attempts at physical repairs on a clients HDD without having any prior experience or knowledge on HDD repairs.

Sometimes I feel that new DR companies are formed with no real basis or experience in DR who become solely dependant on hddguru for answers! This is bad for many reasons, I should not need to explain!

On the other hand, harmless advice is almost always given and information / knowledge is very often exchanged here whether in PM or in public forum. And in most cases , simple yes/no answer is not possible...

If you are not comfortable with this, outsource it. You can easily find a reputable DR firm local to you who have high experience on this common HDD and common problem.

If you attempt yourself and lose alignment, even slightly, there is a chance that data will become unrecoverable, or if recoverable will be at a significantly higher cost.

Hence why I said, not possible

A simple search on this forum will tell you that your concerns over Acoustic spacers means that you are heading in the wrong direction with this case....
