I'm working on one with the same problem right now, having no success other than confirming its behaving just like 7200.11 BSY but that fix does not work. I am trying variants at present. Maybe ACE have some experience? I will email them asking for support. Please post or PM me if you make any headway.

Sorry head down bum up, missed your reply.

Yes it was. I say was as we pulled the plug, another company told the client they could fix it and we hadn't so I sent it on. I am awaiting their results, but I suspect they will get no further than we did. This seems to be a new firmware bug. Very frustrating and I guess we will see many more of them soon as the .12 is very popular right now.

I'm looking forward to getting another one in with more time available to work it right through, or have someone (ACE?) release an update to PC3000 and the Seagate Family manual, with a fix in tow.

Has anybody else dealt with one of these successfully yet? At least say yes so I know that there is a solution.

Is this firmware issue or engineering defect? I am not been able to fix some of then even in udma. drive simply does not accept commands and stays in loop. Curious to know opinions.

If it is spinning down, it is almost always heads.

Bad heads, for example.

LED CC is a symptom not the cause.
