Greetings,

I've got a 10K 36 GB Seagate Cheetah (With IBM eServer label), model ST336605LC. I need to remove the platters from it, but they are secured to the hub by a means I am unfamiliar with. Almost all drives use a few screws on the center hub. Rarely, I've seen a snap ring that holds everything together. On this... I don't see any obvious fastener. There are six indents in the center. It looks like there may be a specialized tool to screw out the interior portion of the hub from the exterior portion. Does anyone know if any such tool exists?

Thanks!
Steve

I haven't seen a tool for commercial sale, will have to make your own.

in order to make such tool there has to be a market for it.
I am sure it can be make but there has to be at least 100 buyers..

I sure agree. I have had the need to move platters from 10K SCSI drives, but not something I see frequently.
therefore it's difficult to justify making the tool from a commercial standpoint.
