Hi folks,

I have trouble with a WD5000AAVS-00ZTB0 hdd. I tried with different USB-SATA adapters and mainboards to operate the disc, but when powering I only hear the drive spinning up, then periodical noises of operation and after 50-60 sec the drive spins down. The bios doesn't recognize the drive - also the USB SATA adapter says USB device not recognized.
I recorded the noises. Please find attached the whole procedure of spinning up to spinning down. Can anybody tell me what's the problem with my drive? PCB? Heads? Firmware? Many many thanks in advance for any ideas/help.

Best regards
dabreaka

If it is spinning down I would say 95% heads problem. I say 95% because I currently have an AAVS which has the symptoms of head failure, but the PCB is in fact the problem. Doesn't happen often.

99.5% certainly heads issue.

Needs pro assistance, no DIY.

Also these drives are notoriously difficult to recover, so make sure you choose a pro who can actually handle these particualar drives (and have the parts) and not outsource it. We know some do, because we get the outsource work!! :-)

hi all, thanks so much for your expert knowledge and your estimation - heads seems to be the most worst diagnose - can you advise a data recovery service in Germany with the best chances to get data back? Again thanks in advance for any help
Best regards, dabreaka
