Out of curiosity, what type of files does your customer need recovered? Contacts, for example?

Agreed more info is required

When were they deleted?
Did they back up via Itunes?
Maybe you could restore the complete Ipad from Itunes or the ICloud but you would need to check when it was last backed up.

You did answer the other questions?
Did they have Icloud setup? have you checked photo stream?
Did they back up using Itunes?
