How?
Should i ship you the drive?
Are you in USA?

For Dick & Loki:
I tried R-Studio Emergency boot cd but it hangs with this script:
Code:
Decompression... Parsing ELF... Done
Starting the kernel

I tried all the boot CD downloaded from "Service Utilities for Local Recovery" section, but is always the same.
I really don't know where is the problem, can you help me please?

I downloaded the "Console for DOS" and "DOS boot package" of DMDE but i don't know how to make boot it in DOS.
Code:
http://softdm.com/download.html

Both this files ar ZIP and not bootable ISO.
Also i don't have a floppy drive.

Please explane me how should i make boot it in DOS with bootable CD-Rom or via USB device.
Thank you.

Yes, I'm in usa, I now that problem, b/c I work long time with HDD. You can't doing remove Abort from wd with R-studio, or different free software, b/c that soft read to another hard info, but you can't see data on another hard b/c you need fix abort error. For that you need prof. tools.

Finally i was able to boot DMDE in DOS with my USB key drive.
Unfurtunally also DMDE is very slow to copy the faulty drive, as all other DOS clone programs.

The only DOS program which is fast to read the drive is MHDD, but it's impossible to use it for clone purpose.
Am i right? Or there is a way to clone with mhdd?

I hope there is a way to clone with mhdd, because it's the only one makes me hope :o

Read the MHDD manual.

MHDD is not a cloning tool, but rather a diagnostic tool, which if used, it will help get an idea what the issue is. Based on that and the feedback you would provide here (if you want to provide it), then we can recommend whether a cloning process is feasible.

Best wishes

Should correct my statement or make it more clear:

...if cloning is feasible using ordinaryq tools.

For labtech:
No, i can't clone with ordinary tools because windows doesn't load the drive.
The drive is been see only in DOS, but very very slowly speed.

I copied one folder of 100 mb in about 3 hours with Active@ NTFS Reader in DOS.

My old 56K modem is faster

i was trying again to clone with RecoverSoft Media Tools Professional 5.0 in DOS, when I realized that if I interrupt the cloning process and then resume after 2 or 3 seconds, the cloning process speeds up until 4.000 sectors about, then it slows again.
Then i interrupt again for 2 or 3 seconds and copys again other 4.000 LBA in very fast speed.

If only I could automate the process of cloning interruption and re-engage every 4.000 LBA, I could copy the disc in a few days.
Do you know a software to do such a thing?
Need a software that clones in DOS interrupting the process of cloning every 4000 sectors copied, and then resume the process after 2 or 3 seconds.

No ordinary tool can do that. Only advanced data recovery tool.

Understood.
Anyway after the first 250.000 lba, the interrupt trick doesn't work.
Since LBA 250.000 copys only 63 LBA's every 2 seconds.

63/2 = 31,5 lba * second

The drive has about a total of 970.000.000 lba's

970.000.000 / 31,5 = 30.793.650 seconds

30.793.650 / 3600 = 8554 hours

8554 / 24 = 356 days

Only 1 year for copy this drive while never turning off the computer.
I could make it!!

Did you try to disable SMART usiny ATA commands? In MHDD you can disable SMART. Try it first and check whether it improves speed. If doesn't, you can also disable automatic sector relocation in HDAT2 (available options depends on the drive model).

I downloaded HDAT2.
Can you explane me how to disable automatic sector relocation in HDAT2 please?
Thanks.

Only on some models such option is available. After selecting disk, go to ATA commands/features set. Very close on the SMART disable option (it could be menu up and one down).

I disabled the SMART but is still slow.
I did a debug with HDAT2 and saved 2 BIX file to the memory stick, and i sent via email these 2 debug files to CBL (which is the author of HDAT2).

He's response is this:
Code:
1. Device Configuration Overlay (DCO) Menu
- Show Identify or Modify: missing Multiword DMA (maybe it is correct)
- Check DCO structure: failed integrity
  - in Dump DCO Data last two bytes (1FEh/1FFh) are zero
  - it seems that DCO module (in firmware) is corrupted
2. SMART menu - Read Log Menu
- Self-Test Log (06h) or Extended Self-Test Log (07h): failing LBA = 432945
  - this is the first LBA sector with error
- Summary Error Log (01h): error count = 355
- Read Attribute Data: Seek Error Rate
  From internet:

Attribute values are supposed to have a "normal" value of 100 or 200
A SMART threshold of 0 indicates that the attributes health range is not
limited (since attribute values range from 1 to 253, 0 can never be reached)
what is (or should be) most commonly the case with parameters that reflect
the performance rather than the health of the hard disk drive
(so called "performance attributes").

Seek Error Rate = Rate of seek errors of the magnetic heads.
If there is a partial failure in the mechanical positioning system, then seek
errors will arise. Such a failure may be due to numerous factors, such as
damage to a servo, or thermal widening of the hard disk.
The raw value of Seek Error Rate is vendor specific.

Your disk has threshold=0, value=1, worst=1.
I think that the disk has a problem with the mechanical positioning system
(heads) and therefore is so slow.
Bad news is you can not fix it by yourself, you really need a profi help.
