WD3200AAJS WD Caviar SE hard drive data recovery. The drive logic board has burned up some components on the board. So being a SATA drive is there a way to replace the Logic board and transfer the drive info from the chips on the prior burned logic board or perhaps another approach to recover the data from the drive. I appreciate any help you can give me.
The Hardware info:

LOGIC BOARD: 2061-701537-J00 04P XW 5M10 870E 2 0006330 8336

Thanks

If original PCB does not have a ROM chip at U12 spot, then ROM info is programmed into big Marvell chip on a PCB. In this case ROM info has to be rebuild from a drive itself, and this has to be done by a PRO in data recovery.
PCB picture with chip side up would be helpful also.

I didnt see a Rom Chip at U12. only a Marvel chip at U5 so probably no joy with this one. I was hoping that it could be transfered to same electronics board as the small chips at R64 and R67 on the original Logic board have burned up.

Thanks so much for responding...

Any other alternatives?

Buy the necessary equipment and do it yourself (after you'll learn how).

P.S. depending on "what" was burned, other internal damage is possible. AND if it is necessary to open the drive, ANOTHER additional problem sum up.

Is the Marvel chip fried as well? Do you see burn marks on it?

No the Marvel chip is fine, its far from the burned chips...

Thanks

And Regarding the other equipment? What does that entail? I do a little recovery on drives on an ongoing basis. But I dont have a clean room and dont want to go that far in the effort to salvage drives but anything short of that would be possible if economically feasable with the number of drives I am repairing to recover data from.

Thanks!

No that chip is fine. You have a very nice website but unfortunately I don't speak Greek. So I couldn't read it.

Thanks for your efforts!

Thanks.
Yes we're preparing an english-speaking section of the website.

If the Marvell chip is OK, then you have a very good chance the preamp is ok.

That sounds promising, so what would i need to do to transfer the info to a similar Logic board or is there something else I would need to do?

About your website, thats great that you will soon have english as well! Congratulations!

Thanks for your response!

Hi,

Well then there are two options for you, since there is no chip @U12.
1) Transfer that chip that holds the adaptives from your patient board to the donor board. This is extremely difficult even for people with superb soldering skills. Remember, if you mess this up, recovery of your data will be 3x more expensive. (to say the least).
2) Seek a professional with the right equipment and skills who can do this for you. At THIS point, and assuming there is no other damage besides the pcb, it shouldn't cost an arm and a leg.

**BONUS***
3) Buy the equipment and learn how to do it yourself.

I'd choose 2).
