From my orgional thread:
hard-drive-won-spin-t23611.html

Last week I brought the PCB on ebay which I got it for £10. Today I have received the board in the post. I have replaced the new board on the hard drive, I have plugged the connector and the IDE cable on the hard drive. When I switched my PC on, usually I would hear a buzz sounds but I did not hear anything. I have put my hands on the hard drive and I find it that they are so quiet. There are no spinning at all.

I am not really sure if I have brought the wrong PCB.

Here is the details of the PCB.

The orgional PCB:

Code:
Model: 6K040L0
Code: NAR61HA0
Four chartcher: KMGA
PCB number: 040122600

The new PCB:

Code:
Model: 6E040L0
Code: NAR61HA0
Four chartcher: B8FED
PCB number: 040112600

Can you please tell me why the hard drive won't spin?

Have I brought the wrong PCB?

If so, I will contact with the seller to return it.

thanks in advance

Either you have bought a BAD pcb or the problem is elsewhere. P.s. Your motor won't come out because... there's something else attached and if you have tried to lift it up, most probably you have GREATLY lowered your chances of getting your data back to say the least

You must have been mixed up something here.
You wrote KMGA for the original Pcb...that is not written on the pcb but from the front label.
Check the sticker on your original Pcb...like you wrote on "the new pcb" B8FED...what does it say?

Cheers

You were offered a matched PCB for £20 which you chose to ignore to "save" a few pounds.

My offer is withdrawn.

No I haven't mixed it up. I have copied the label from the new PCB so how I have mixed it up when I copied the label from the PCB? It didn't make much sense. I have checked the PCB sticker and it said the different label than my orgional PCB. So do you know why the hdd won't spin? does that mean I have brought the wrong PCB?

I don't know what you mean by "B8FED...what it does say?". Can you please explains clearly please?

Well actually to be honest with you, you have chose to ignore me when I sent you the PMs to get the right PCB. I find it that you are quite a very rude person to be an arrogant where I need an advise. You have lost my trust.

Oh well nevermind. I know why my orginal PCB has not been working. I have found the matched PCB on ebay just for £13 with free postage.

To save a few pounds? well you are having a laugh!!!!

It isn't a bad PCB that I have brought. It just a wrong type of board. The model, make, pcb number and four chartchers have to be matched otherwise it will not work. I guess why it is not working.

You have make me concern about get my low chance to get my data back. I haven't dropped the hdd or do anything with it. I have replaced a different model of the PCB, so does that mean I have runied?

Chris, did you measure motor windings?

Even harddrivespecialist wrote "99.9% PCB at fault, not motor."
There is a slight chance that motor is burnt. Check resistance between contacts w/o PCB installed.

Yes you have mixed it up, the letters KMGA is one of the things needed for when you seeks new heads.
What you need is to get a compatible Pcb, the same code on the Pcb sticker must match: Like the example in this picture M8FYB
In your case it looks like A7GKA

Thanks Loki

@OP....

The reason I ignored your PM's and emails was because you were asking me to advise you if a PCB that you had seen cheaper somewhere else would work, so you could buy it from there rather than me! I would consider THAT very rude indeed, and it annoyed me immensely. I thought it prudent to bite my tongue and say nothing rather than respond in a negative manner.

I could not care less if you bought the PCB from me or not! £20 is neither here nor there, especially with the time I would have spent searching my stock for a suitable match. It was a gesture of good will and a genuine offer of help, rather than a money-making excercise!!

But I wish you luck in your recovery, I just don't wanna be a part of it.

Thank you.
