Hello, i've this sata Samsung SP1213C hdd which the motor doesn't spin anymore.
I hear some faint noises inside (not head clicking) that sounds like a truck with the engine running to stand still.
Tatatatatata crrrr, 2 seconds of nothing, then again tatatatatata crrrr, 2 seconds of nothing, and so on...

The drive is not detected in bios.
Is this a motor issue, pcb issue or what?

Pcb: BF41-00069A (300130.112 Rev.12)
Motor controller chip: HA13627
Drive FW: E-H011-03-2477(B)
Manufactered in 2004.01

I need help to test the pcb, and possibly to find another working pcb to swap.
Thank you for your help.

Is the drive out of an external casing type of drive?

No, the drive is for internal use.
Why you ask me if was in a external casing?

no, it has not been drop.
One day worked fine, next day no boot.

Could it be a pcb issue?

Maybe, maybe not.

Is there any way you can get a good recording of the sound that the drive makes?

The reason these questions are asked is because these are questions with the goal of eliminating potential problems with the drive that are cost free.
Suggestions can easily be made but it involve a cost in buying a compatible part and running other tests.

If the recording is something you are not able to do, you can research in the forum here how to access the drive via terminal. You may have what you need around the house. Once you can get a terminal output of the drive behavior and post here on the forum, then more recommendations can potentially be made.

Of course i've the PhsLd Fail message if i unplug the motor flat cable.
But if i keep the cable connected, i don't get the PhsLd Fail message (look at the first log).

Either the drive CAN'T start or there is a 'surprise' inside the drive - or both. Diagnose the pcb (30 seconds) then it's time for clean room.

Time to diagnose the pcb...if pcb is't bad then it has internal problem and it's required to open the drive in cleenroom,

Interesting, also samsung hard drive can be attached to an RS232/TTL adapter.
I didn't know
