I have tried everything. Initially I grabbed the Floppy exe installer and went out to Tiger Direct for a USB floppy drive. I used both Magic ISO Maker and Rawwrite to extract the files from the floppy to an image file. Unfortunately both images are made with the extension IMA. I just assumes the IMA can be changed to ISO. I tried IMG/IMA to ISO conveterand the one I used did not work but renaming it did.

After all that most likely unnecessary work until I found out MHDD also comes as a Magic Boot Maker and CDROM ISO images.

I used both Power ISO, unetbootin, and HP USB FLash Key. None of them were able to boot properly from the USB. Power ISO burn to USB just would not boot at all. The Unebootin just left me at the unebootin screen and the HP USB flash Key was able to get me into MHDD but not without a lot of errors during boot. Unable to find Ramdisk for one and HImem error line 15 of the config.sys file.

The way I see it is the MHDD ISO's already has imbedded in it boot files for making a Floppy or Cdrom and when tryoing to create a bootable USB flash drive these tools seems to redundantly add more Boot files to the USB flash with clashes with the ones in the ISO.

Just to repeat the only one that seemed to boot into the program was to use the HP Flash Drive Key Utility. At first I tried using it with the Win98 files them copying the files from the MHDD Iso over to the USB. That did not work at all. Instead of using the win98 folder which has the 3 basic files MSDOS.sys, IO.sys and command.com I just pointed the HP utility to the MHDD directory. At first boot I got an error about finding command.com and that the A:\MHDD could not be found. I removed the A: from the autoexect.bat and after that it boot in. Still with the errors though. The Ramdisk, the Himem etc.

Is there a tutorial on how to create a USB bootable flash drive version of MHDD iso?

Its too bad there is not a USB iso version to burn to USB.

Thanks

Hello,
While I do not know how to put MHDD on a flash drive, you could very easily put Hiren's Boot CD on a flash drive and it has MHDD and HDAT2 and other programs already on it. Just google : Hiren's Boot CD USB

This seems ok but I wish to have MHDD version 4.5 or one that was customized with 21.bin, 22.bin etc and some scripts added to add to the bootable floppy. I was able to do this but want to put this on a USB flash.

Do I have to modify the autoexec.bat and config.sys to boot from USB.

Anyone else who may know please input ideas.

Thanks

Yes I looked through all of that information and grabbed different ISO's. TO make it boot from USB like floppy or CD just does not work!!
