Dear friends,

I bought SAMSUNG Spinpoint HN-M101MBB/Z4 1TB 5400 RPM 8MB Cache 2.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s Internal Notebook Hard Drive and have been trying to format it on different laptops(such as Dell XPS, Samsung, Acer and others).
The problem is that it is never detected at all so i can not format it neither install a windows os on it to be able to use it.
What is wrong, why it is never being detected? (i put it internally of course)
Please help with advice, from the store i bought it they do not want to refund me the money back.
Thank you in advance

Seems defective.

What do they say about not refunding money ? Do they want to replace the drive instead or nothing at all ?

Agreed most shops first try to just do a swap out but it would depend on when you bought it & how much time has lapsed.

the hard drive spins smoothly and nicely, i dont think it is defective or broken
also when i open Disk Management, it shows there as unformatted and nonpartitioned, but only there, otherwise the disk is like "nonexistant" and not accessible at all
maybe the problem is about SATA drivers but i dont know anything about how to fix that.
any ideas?

If it's brand new, you might need to initialize it.

In disk management, right click on the black region saying unpartitioned or unformatted and create a new simple volume.

You then can choose the partition size, name, etc.

It is detected by Disk Management, isn't it?

Have the store test it for you and prove it's not faulty.

If it's faulty then you should get a refund/replacement
