Hi

I have a drive here, that I'm almost sure it has a stiction. Can't open until the client gives me the approval to open it because of warranty.

Did you guy have had any problem of this kind??
Are this drives prone to this??

Thanks

Not very likely, but possible.

More likely the heads are mashed into the ramp, preventing the platters from spinning.

Possible motor seizure, but again pretty rare.

Thanks guys.

I'll see if the client will let me open it, if he want's the data or rather send it to warranty.

Cheers

Agree; I have never seen stiction on EAR* nor have I ever seen motor seizure on these.
But last week I had an EALX with motor seizure

I think pcimage is right, most probably heads went ashtray preventing drive from spinning.
