Hi Guys,

I have a strange TOSHIBA MK2552GSX ...

Not recognised in bios from a PC
Comes Ready but not recognised with Salvation HDD Doctor
With Data Compass i can access it see directories begin to copy data and after +/- 1 minute no access ... simply stop power of the disk and begin again then i can copy during +/- 1 min ... and so on ... but there is many data ...

My feeling is a PCB or Firmware problem ... does someone had this case before ?

Thanks but ... i changed PCB and now it is detected but HDD Locked ???

Guess why ?

Not same ROM ????

If you know how Toshiba drives work....

P.S. where did the idea of the PCB swap came from ?

I don't have many experience with TOSHIBA ... and the salvationdata training didn't speak of TOSHIBA ... they just speak of FUJITSU (mod 11 and 12 for ide and DA ans SA for SATA)

Why changing PCB : I already have similar problem with another brand and it was PCB ... so i try another PCB ... i put back the original PCB and first try to save important files ...

Is there a way to test the heads ? At least one must be good because i can read but not for a long time

Not a Toshiba, indeed.
Do one thing, especially if the drive is not yours, OUTSOURCE the job - before it's too late.

Thank you for your advice ... for the real tool i suppose you talk about PC3000 ... i intend to buy one soon ...
