 Post subject: help iomega ego 1tb drive stopped working

help i was using the drive i unplug it from my laptop and i go to sleep next day i plug it in and it lights up no sound or vibration and the led indicator stays solid blue no flashing really important please help any type of information would be nice

Put your against the drive and power on - confirming no sound still? Maybe a buzz?

Also, describing the drive model can help a bit.

no sound the drive has no power cable its just usb the model is iomega evo 1tb and the model # is 31924400

no why would i need another cable and i read that sometimes the drive is disconnected from the inside and that you can open it and plug it then close the case and its good as new but the instructions on opening the case are not very detailed what do you think

I am just asking so I can understand the drive's behavior by running simple tests using what you may have around.

Depending on how new your drive is, opening the enclosure by you will void the warranty on it. Are you willing to accept losing the warranty? If so, the next step would be to connect and test the drive itself on a tower/desktop machine by connecting it directly to the SATA ports on the motherboard. Though not always useful, you can also use another enclosure and see if that would work. These are still very basic tests, so if this has already begun complicated and the data is important, then I recommend pro help, someone who specializes in data recovery, to properly evaluate your media.
