I have a Segate Free Agent GoFlex portable USB 3.0, 2 TB model 9ZQ2N2-500. It was in the middle of a back-up of my laptop when one of my kids unplugged the drive. Since then when I plug it in it spins and makes a beeping noise, but in Windows it says the drive is not initialized. I have tried some very basic thinks like in Windows disk manager "initialize disk" and it give a error of cyclic redundancy check. I also have removed it from the OEM enclosure and tried to plug it into a universal portable hard drive enclosure with the exact same results as the OEM enclosure. The drive is only for a back up of my computers and I have all the data I need on my computers so I don't need to recover any data off it, I just want to be able to use the drive again. Is there something I can do to repair this drive and save the $150 to buy a new one? Also, I am assuming that a local expert is going to cost a good portion of a new drive and would rather give the repair a shot. The Segate drive information inside the Go Flex case is:
Barracuda Green
ST2000DL001
PN: 9VT156 - 570
Thanks for the help - Brian

Are you sure the motor is actually spinning? The beeping sounds like the heads are parked onto the platters instead of the ramp.

It sure feels like it, it has the gyro scope effect going on where it has lots of intertia. There are little chrip sounds every 2-3 seconds then they stop after about 15 times.

Probably heads or another mechanical problem. Not DIY.
