I am new to this forum I would like to know if you can help me somehow because I have read the sticky posts but didn't find anything similar to my problem

I have a problem with my hard drive I was playing on my ps3 while I had my laptop running since I am connected in a bridge mode then because I had the laptop running and upon hearing that noise I turned off the laptop, I was still able to save a file and close 2 programs before turning off the laptop.

Upon restart I was still hearing the same noises which tests should I do to the hard drive?

I had been noticing that my computer this past month that it turned off by itself like once a week, I usually leave my computer in standby and turn it on around 5 hours a day.

Read-write mechanism is toast. Possible media damage. Pro in a cleanroom environment needs to examine what is going on.
Do not power the drive any more. It will not work.

Assuming that you understand & accept all the risks of DIY recovery attempts and based just on your comments and no other information, I would make a raw clone of the drive first (to provide a backup in the case of human error or bad luck during the next steps), then afterwards use software like Partition Find & Mount or manual reconstruction of the MBR, to re-instate the partition table. But there are other options, each with their own pros and cons - different people would use different techniques, so other members may suggest alternatives

I would like to know how it would be possible to do some thing like this, in case that I send this to a company in Portugal and they mess up the drive.

Also I would like to know some companies in Portugal that took care of these kind of problems,because I don't know any.

You were quoting me in that other thread, but that advice doesn't apply to your specific case. Of course you can try DIY if you don't care about the data on your drive, but attempting DIY on a drive with suspected internal problems is very unlikely to be successful, and could make the result for you even more expensive or perhaps make later recovery impossible (even for a DR company) - due to your actions. Are you willing to accept those possibilities?

One professional member here who is in Portugal, is pclab.

But the DIY I was going to try was just to copy the drive as it is to another drive just in case that the recovery won't be successfull I am not even thinking of opening the hard drive, so i guess I am not even able to considerate in making another copy.

Also one more thing I wanted to post that error which was saying operating system not found happenned to me like 1 month ago also but then it recovered after restarting the computer.

It just is something I wanted to post and I forgot to, but at that time it didn't make any sounds.

Yes, I understood that. I meant everything I said. You could easily make things worse or even make the data totally unrecoverable, by your choice of trying to read a drive with likely internal problems.

It's up to you - you will have to take responsibility if you make things much worse / more expensive / unrecoverable. Sorry if this isn't what you wanted to hear...

Hi, do not connect power to the drive. There seems to be a problem inside which needs to be looked at by a professional. Others have warned you of the same thing. It will be like starting a car with engine oil missing.

Internal problem has to be diagnosed first by a pro and repaired before a copy can be done. You cannot do a copy now.

Two more questions and sorry for asking guys but I am very noobish regarding this:

Because I will send my hard drive and I want to reduce the shocks it gets since I will send it via postal service.

How should I send it and how should I aconditionate the hard drive bubblewrap?

I want for it to get there in the best way so that it doesn't become Dead on Arrival.

Also the other question is regarding to data itself, when you are recovering the data you will be looking at personal info in it, or you just copy data itself without regarding nothing about it.
