Hi unknown20010
Thanks for your reply & H.D.D. repair for dummies.
This disk does not give typical error like 7200.11 & does not come on F3 T>. This does not seem to be typical issue.

We have faced similar issue with 7200.12 disks. There is no official solution yet. Disk does not give access after certain sectors. This could be firmware bug on 7200.12 family.

I have recieved a 7200.12 which sounded healthy but had a busy fault, the 7200.11 fix did not work it failed sorry i do not have a copy of the terminal report. I am still to find a solution for this fault. Has any one had any success with the .12 drives having this fault i believe it to be a firmware issue.

zebong is right. Rst 0x10M doesn't mean LBA0 problem of 7200.11.

Got this drive today. Same error. To make it simple, the problem is that there is a bad connection between PCB and HDA. Clean the connection with rubber eraser. Should help.

The terminal output is not the failure, it is simply a symptom of one or more failures.

Initial case in this thread is not bad contact...

I got 2 of these faulty 7200.12 drives. After some research I found out, that
- on disc (ST3250410AS, "Certified Repaired HDD") had a faulty pre-amp. Here only a head stack swap can help.
- the other disc (ST3500418AS) has problems in their firmware area. Modules 013, 015, 026, 027, 028, 02B, 02F, 030, 031, 032, 035 are not readable. First this disc was busy, now it has "only" 0MB. I must find now a way to regenerate the translator, but there is still a SMART failure, which I have to solve before.

F3 T>m0,2,2,,,,,22
Max Wr Retries = 00, Max Rd Retries = 00, Max ECC T-Level = 16, Max Certify Rewrite Retries = 2DF8

Init SMART Fail
LED:000000CC FAddr:0024EAA9
LED:000000CC FAddr:0024EAA9

So some of the 7200.11-commands may help here, but they definitely do not solve the root cause.

Hello friends I want to tell you how I managed to recover data from my hd seagate, because even though experience in the bio, it made a strange noise, ticking, and did not have a valid partition, what I did was update the firmware through the. iso seagate's website, and then used as a tool for data recovery program from seagate recorery file (easy to find on torrents site) is there to help me, sorry ITS verry bad English, translate for google. thanks.

Hello hotwarez.

I have a problem similar to yours. I'm glad you already solved. Can you be more specific how to update the firmware when the computer does not recognize the disc?
I thank you very much for your help. Greetings.

As long as the drive appears in BIOS, the firmware updater will attempt to apply the update. I don't believe it is a good idea to apply an update to a clicking drive, though. In any case it appears that the drive may have had a file system problem as a consequence of bad sectors.
