i am planning getting my own PC3000 UDMA , had a look at the opinions of SD tools users , and to tell the truth < they r not that happy with their tools .

i know this is a silly question to ask for such a great devise , but r u satisfied with your pc3000 UDMA ?

I am more than satisfied with my PC3000 systems. If you do get one, don't be cheap, buy the Data Extractor add-on right away.

If you need the functionality that PC3K and DE has, there is really no alternative on the market today (as far as I know). Yes I'm satisfied. I've got the first one a long time ago, before the UDMA version. And it's getting better for every year. But it's not cheap. You need to pay a yearly fee for updates and support.

That alone is not cheap. Well, it depends on workload.

I don't understand how anyone could make serious data recovery without PC3K+DE. Obviously it might be that I'm just so unskilled that I do need this kind of tools...

Just one question: in the past, i worked with pc3k with my old company and indeed is a good software solution. Right now I am starting my business alone and personal story apart (just bought house and had a newborn daughter) I am looking for an economic alternative if possible. The current quotation is 7k € for data extractor + pc3k express, but it's really necessary for me to buy both? Or can i stick to the old pc3k udma for almost 2k €? I was looking also portable edition, but it look like is quite limited. Thanks for help

Also 7K for the new tool is cheap, I think street price will be more like 10K or so.

Yes you need to buy both DE and tool, otherwise you will only have bought the engine of the Ferrari, but no steering wheel or gears.

Yeah, official quotation (don't know how much the prices are different from country to country) sadly, for the express stuff: PC-3000 Express = 4800 EUR, Data Extractor Express = 2300 EUR. For the old one: PC-3000 UDMA = 3100 EUR, Data Extractor UDMA = 1800 EUR. I know it's a good software and for sure i'll need to buy it, but it's quite expensive for my pocket right now, considering everything, so would be great to know if I should switch to portable edition or other software for the begin, or there are other solutions. I don't mean to appear like a "cheap business", but right now it's better to think more then twice before spend money.

If you want the PCIe version, you will have to wait until they actually officially release it. According to them, there has been no official announcement and the cost of PC3000 UDMA + DE is around 5000 Euros...certainly not 2000. You might want to confirm that you are communicating with the real company and not some Chinese knock off.

I think that PC3000 tools are worth every penny, just as the DeepSpar Imagers are. However, the process one has to go through to purchase from Ace is absolutely retarded in the age of PayPal and credit cards. I know that they are trying very hard to make this process easier, but for now, easy it is not.

I confirm the prices come from ACE laboratory but i think you miss my previous post, the pc3000 udma was quotated 3100€ and the data extractor 1800€, the new version that will come out in april or so is 4800€ for pc3000 express and 2300€ for data extractor. These are prices that i receive in dec/jan at least. I think too that pc3000 is an exceptional tool for data recovery, and i already got an answer about purchase or not pc3k AND data extractor, together anyway, i have some question for people that for sure have more experience then me with other software solutions (if any admin think this isn't the right place just tell me, i don't mean to spam the wrong section), and it's about what's the better (cheaper) alternative for a beginner - in the past, i worked a lot just with company proprietary tools and pc3k udma, so my knowledge about others software is quite limited. I got my eyes on deepspar imager too (http://www.deepspar.com/products-ds-disk-imager.html), DFL-DE Hard Drive Data Recovery Tool (http://www.datarecoverytools4u.com/prod ... or-dfl-de/) and data compass unlimited (http://www.salvationdata.com/data-recov ... ersion.htm). Don't know anyway the quotations for everything and if these products can also be valuable like (more or less) pc3000. Also, thank you all for the kind answers it's sure a big help

If you want to go the imager way then DDI is the best there is, but you might want to have a look at Atola as well.
I'm not familiar with DFL but I think it is a firmware/DE combo, some people say it is quite good but I don't know.
DC is pants. Good for a door stopper or to keep your piano level.

Thank you for your answer. I checked Atola products as well, look good as imager but choosing a solution with diagnostic, cloning and data extraction tool is quite expensive compared to pc3000. Thanks for data compass their sales contacted me for suggest data compass standard (http://www.salvationdata.com/data-recov ... ompass.htm), but since you say is a crappy product i will exclude them. So, the options around are Deepspar disk imager and DFL for now? Should one or them be ok for most of the job? Usually I work with neither raid or ssd, just single hard drives from private customers or little business (for now, at least, it's what advertisement get)

There is a another problem. Many of the disks that is subject for data recovery is external hard disks. The majority of these have suffered from a mechanical shock in some way. Many of them have mechanical problems/damages inside that needs to taking care of before you start cloning them. Else you might kill the customers disks for good. Therefore you will also need a clean room environment and tools + knowledge for how to doing this. Imho.

That's ok arthur, at least for most of the tools (combs, solders, microscopes, etc - anyway i miss the torture rack for the common seagate/wd engine problems) and environment, the knowledge is what i learned from my experience in my former (big) data recovery company. What i miss right now is just the right tools for imaging/cloning/extracting/repair, but I already spent some money to start my little business, and if possible i want to channel my last resources in a good, reliable software. Of course i don't want and i can't neither be a truly competitor for a company with limitless funds and subsidiaries scattered all around the world i don't care, here in my city (think whole country) there is a situation in which it's ok at least to have a job that's why i am starting something related with my past work experiences.

anyway, i take a look to deepspar and it looks really good. I sent a mail to their sales, hope to get some quotations asap (and i hope it's cheaper than pc3000). Apart northwind, someone else worked with both and can tell me what they think about?

You are asking about the software for the Chinese PC-3000 PCI clone. That is (illegal) pirate software and it is not discussed here. Go back to your supplier for support.
