I'm using Data Extractor read a disk, and then to analyse file system contents. But for a while now it has been breaking my tasks! Has anyone else had the same problem? DE hangs or crashes when trying to analyse folder contents (working with data copy only), and the next time I try to open it, it never opens but hangs forever. Stupidly, DE overwrites the backup file task.bak when I try to open the next time, so then I lose my backup as well, and now there's no way for me to open this task. Do I have to extract the data manually from Data Extractor's files, and if so, how? Or does anyone know another way to fix this?

I have several cases where this has happened, but now there's one where the disk is still alive, but I have another case where the disk is dead. I need approaches for both cases. Would much appreciate any tips to work around this problem!

Yes, XP. I've been in touch with ace on the forum, several months ago but never got a good response. If the disk still works, I can create a new task in DE and just copy the task.prm to the broken task folder, then it works again. But if the disk is dead I don't have a fix, besides getting a donor and manipulating it to have all the same details maybe...

I didn't get to check for a new upgrade today, I'll try tomorrow and see if that helps.
