You are risking your change to try this one. But there is a HDD LBA restore tool from the maker of MHDD this one has worked for me in the past on some drives. But I would not suggest this one if you do not know the real problem of this one. There is repair companies in India that can do this for you. You have some major issue now on the HDD that have to be repaired. I would suggest to take in into a repair company and have them look at this one for you. I would not suggest to use the HDD LBA restore tool first because this can cause more damage to the drive. I would not suggest to write random terminal commands to this drive either. The only thing you can do now is make a terminal connector and give us a terminal log of the problem. The terminal log will give a better idea of what is wrong with this one

@flames1,

Please be clear:

What exactly is listed by the BIOS for this disk drive - you need to state the exact text which is displayed for the make & model information, and the exact size information which is shown. If you can take a photo of the BIOS disk setup screen showing this info, and attach that photo to your reply, then that would be good :)

Unfortunately for you, although your initial story is unclear in some key details, I suspect that your drive has suffered firmware damage (I have seen this before after a power cut) and on your own, you are unlikely to be able to recover the data yourself, as poehere said. The information I have asked you to supply above, will help to confirm or disprove this hypothesis.

Thanks for the photos.

The BIOS is showing a drive size (capacity) ... of 0MB, which is important information. None of those software recovery utilities can recover from this type of problem, as this shows an internal drive problem (likely firmware-related).

There is something which a technically-skilled user could attempt, in order to do further diagnosis, but there are risks. Your next steps depend on your skills, the value of the data to you, and what risks you are prepared to take e.g. are you willing to risk making the data totally unrecoverable... If you explain more about your skills and the risks you want to take, then perhaps you will receive more suggestions.
