Better thing to do is try all the combinations that you can with the data that you have.
I don't think that it's possible to decrypt it without the password....
Unless someone knows a back-door, but i don't think there is one.

Hello,

I just registered because I have the same problem with a passport disk of a friend of mine.

Here are the data

Model Number: WD My Passport 0730
Unit Serial Number: WX41A3122181
Firmware Number: 1015
Capacity: 320.04 GB

My friend told me never to set up a password on this disk, but the disk is locked.
That's why nobody knows the password. I read in serveral threads that this could be caused by an interruption
of the usb connection and is related to a bug in the wd software.
A lot of people seem to have the same problem.

However the wd support is not willing to help or they simply can't - I don't know why.
May be they fear that their encryption algorithm is marked as unsafe, if they do reset the key.

My friend knows nearly nothing about computers and has no backup of the data on it.
It's so sad that he never ask me how to handle data and backup.

Here I read that Einstein9 is able to reset the password to a default one.
I also saw his video on youtube.

I would like to have an offer for the password reset.

I also read that you don't give the software to reset the password away, that would mean that I need
to send you the device.

Would be nice to have an option without giving away the harddisk.

Please send me an offer.

Usually you have to send the drive with proof of ownership or RAL , I'm afraid there are no exceptions. And it would NOT be cheap.

I wonder if there is any success story of decrypting without a known password on these drives ever, which those who claim they can do it might share with us...

@einstein

Sorry I can't send you PM for now, it is not allowed for me yet.

So I answer you question here:

It is an usb3 device.
I have removed the enclosure, the usb port is directly on the board of the harddisk - meaning
it is no sata disk with an build in usb- adapter.

It seems to be exactly the same disk shown in your video on youtube.

Unless , If the disc asks for a password that has never been set up before.
