At first I thought is was a pcb issue, but I checked another ST3000DM001 and the pcb sent the same messages when it was unattached from the motor. You cannot terminal into this drive, you cannot CTRL +Z. Shows the same error message "Fail Servo Op=0100 Resp=0003. The drive state is bsy dsd and dsc.

I did just that with the thin cardboard, but it still does not let me do anything. On other seagate drives they have points on the pcb where you can short and have the drive ready so you can do terminal commands.. I have a pc3000. I have a donor drive exactly the same, just different firmware, tried the terminal no problem. It I knew where the points are for this drive a could short it and run the commands... There is very little info on these drives.. I guess they are too new..

Yes this is the same pcb...

AFAICT the read and write differential pairs are pins 12 & 14, and 16 & 18 of the preamp connector. I don't know which is which, though. You can identify them because each pair of traces runs side by side and is of equal length. They also terminate at the preamp pins in a characteristic "Y" pattern.

Earlier drives had termination resistors at the MCU. The manner in which these were terminated enabled you to distinguish read from write, but these days the termination appears to be internal.

if you cant get ctrl+Z , try hooking everything up, powering the drive and then only after that go into putty or whatever your terminal program is and start the connection and try. Do it with and without the Head Stack contacting.

Stop dreaming, the problem is internal. Look at the output...

What do you mean internal? i have the same error, and a buch of spare parts and acces to a vacuum isolated area, so i can try fixing it,... thing is i am not sure if it is mechanical or board, because the same error shows up even when th pcb is dettached from the hdd

Internal refers to the mechanism inside the chassis responsible read/write functionality.

If the data is not important, don't try to fix, just RMA. Less headache.

thing is it was 3tb and almost full, because sadly, it was my backup/storage drive, so i really need my data back, can someone give me some ligths please?

Need compatible parts to replace the defective ones. Then ideally a professional hardware imager.
Suggest practicing on other drives before working on the one that contains the data.

Or, best route, pro data recovery company.

You need to go to a DR company then, there is really no question.

some company that can help? my budget will be like 200 bucks maximun, at least for now... considering is a mechanical issue, becaus everything was ok, the last week suddendly dissapeared, when i restarted it, bios never recognized it again so i stopped messing with it until friday when i did the ca-42 thing and i can read the servo thing in the terminal console...

I understand that your budget is an issue, but just because you cant afford to go to a DR compny does not in any way suddenly enable you to do DIY fix.

I suggest putting the drive back on the shelf and add next to it a tin marked "DR MONEY" to add to when you can.

If you continue with DIY, then your data wasnt as important as you implied.
