Hi, I am having some problems with my Seagate Barracuda 3TB.

I can't power on my PC yesterday so I opened it up and look around.
Once I unplugged my Barracuda from the power supply, I am able to start up my PC and everything was fine (it then lost its power once I plugged the Barracuda back in).
I then slot the Barracuda into a Media Player from my TV and likewise the Media Player was unable to be power up.

I googled around the web and found many results regarding burned PCB but nothing similar to what I am facing.
I am unable to confirm if my PCB shares the same fate as I do not have the tools to unscrew the PCB off the HDD.

I just want to confirm if the problem is cause by the PCB before making a purchase and swapping it out.

Appreciate any help.

Don't continue to power up your drive. The problem is most likely a shorted TVS diode.

See http://www.users.on.net/~fzabkar/HDD/TVS_diode_FAQ.html

You need to buy a Torx 6 (?) screwdriver and a pair of flush cutters. A multimeter would be advisable to test the diodes AND your PC power supply.

Oh man, that sounds like my problem. Seems like I just didn't search for the right word/phrase.
Thanks a lot.
