anybody?

an answer here would be very appreciated. thanks.

in one sentence: can a burned tvs diode from one pcb be replaced by a working tvs diode from another pcb (other make) and thus make the hard disk work again? (soldering, of course)

Thanks.

well, i checked both tvs diodes (the 12V diode is on the other side of the pcb) and both have the right voltage, which means they probably must not be replaced.

I still have the multimeter so, now that we know its not tvs diodes (or "voltage protectors") maybe I should check some other things?

I am not sure whether I should or should not purchase a new pcb....
