Hi,

I have this disk with problems (WIN 7)

Sometimes Macintosh and Linux (UBUNTU) can read the EFI partition, sometimes no.
The NTFS partition ... I don't get any table or info.

With ddrescue, I read the first sector and then errors. Stop some minutes and restart and can read one more sector.

Please help diagnose the problem.

Thanks in advance,

Ruy

Bad sectors, possible mechanical.

Need a good eval by a pro for best chances of recovery - if the data is important, of course.

Thank very much for your reply.

What info you need beside SMART?

And other tools to diag. the problem.

Thanks

Try to use MHDD to scan the drive.
If the bad sectors are only at the start of the drive, you might be lucky clonning it starting from the end.
But if data is really important you should consider a data recovery house.

Thank you Splidit, hhddrec.

I use Linux to recover disks and other equip.

In ddrescue I can change the initial start sector
-i 100M or -i 200M or -i 800M or -i 150G

And the behaviour is the same; the initial sect. is read and then errors.

It doesn't matter the position in disk ... start reading and then errors.

Best regards,
Ruy
