Hi
Wondered if anyone can help. I have a Securenet Qube 8 camera device which has been used for recording CCTV images. After an incident which was reported to the police, I removed the DVR to ensure the images were kept, bought a new DVR to put in the existing Securenet Qube (to continue on recording) and then purchased a new Securenet Qube to place the old DVR back in. (Needed to view all historic data to see if there were any other incidents!)

When I went to search for all files between certain dates, it came up with No Files found on Channels1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8.!

How come there is no record of any recordings. Does it automatically delete files when it is removed from the original device and placed in a new device?

Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

Advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi,

Those DVR's are very specific sometimes and they recognize if the original drive is on the DVR.
Have you tried to contact supplier to get that technical information?

Hi,

Can't find any contact numbers for Securenet, think they are a foreign firm. Tried opening up their contact us form on their website, but keep coming up with an error message!

Another point didn't mention earlier..... when you look under thee HDD information section, its shows disk capacity as 961kb, with left capacity also at 961kb.

Thanks

That information is new and might mean something. I'm not sure if the hdd might have some problem.

Can you connect the hdd to a regular computer and check if you can see him ok in bios and access it on the OS?

Most likely. Many models initialize new drives automatically...
Some system info, headers, allocation tables, etc. may be rewritten.

^ BAD idea on proprietary FS.

First need to see if the HDD is working properly , why some channels were NOT recording (malfunction/intentionally/HDD malfunction so there is no data available...) 8)

I am quite sure I can deal with it (as long as it has not been overwritten) but it is always expensive and need to see DVR and/or a image/clone of the disk, so this is not an option.

Try to contact someone in your area who has the necessary premises and skills. Good luck.

Hi,

What does the proprietary FS has to do with connecting the drive to regular OS and check if has access?

At the very least you should use a write blocker, but I agree with BlackST. Some high end systems have anti-tamper. I haven't seen any of this stuff for years but I remember a system at a hospital that had some issues and I remember the tech from the company had to come and do something to the disk after a replacement. I cant remember much as I wasn't really involved in it.

If, for example, it is a NTFS/FAT32 or whatever recognisable, 7 for sure (and XP too , it depends...) will do something if you connect the drive to a system. :D
In this very case I don't know what the FS is, some DVRs are mini Linux boxes so who knows...

I would keep in mind that if the "evidence" assuming it has actually been recorded on the DVR is of some importance, I would NOT play with the drive.

Yep, I understand the risk, but I've never seen one case where anti-tamper systems where being used.

Yes I have seen maybe 2 times. And I wouldn't call it anti tamper so much as maybe tamper evident. and I have seen it maybe 2 more times where the say they have anti tamper, but in fact it is either not turned on, or simply does not exist(a lie).

As they say, if you have physical access to the box, it is game over.

Clone the drive to another drive and work from there...

I see it in professional systems , and it works in several manner especially when there is remote management/backup of the DVR data or the DVR is interconnected with the alarm system.
This is not the case in my opinion, anyway.

Hi

Do you still have the Securenet Qube 8?

I'm having problems with mine and wondered if you could give me a few hints regarding Motion Detection ?

Many thanks
