Hello.
As you see above I've lost all my data with a crap WD my passport 1TB.

Now ...i would like to buy a SAMSUNG SDD 256 gb 840 pro series.
Which simple, cheap box (external) do you advice me to buy?

I work with a Macbook air

No. It based on TLC nand chips. It is even more crap than MLC

No, you need any SSD and a good backup plan. The best SSD in trhe world could fail or be subject to any number of things going weong. A "good" "reliable" SSD is approx. 20% of the battle.

Samsung 830 Pro , based on MLC, is more stable than 840 Pro based on cheap TLC chips

So HaQue, what is a good realiable SDD hdd? Samsung 830 pro as suggested could be a nice choice?

sounds good.

btw, can anyone tell me how an individual assess the available HDDs and comes up with a product that is "good" and "reliable".

only valid criteria please, such as real data showing how this drive is better than others....
