Dears,
I took my hdd to a company here in Brazil and claimed that is with a small risk in the platter and it is not possible to extract the data.

Is this correct ? There is no way to recover a hdd with a small risk?

I would like to indicate someone or some company that could recover the data if this is possible.

Tanks
Gilbertt :(

Hi,

That depends on a lot of factors.
Where is the risk (ring) located?
What's his extension?
In which surface is located?
What's the brand and model of the drive?

So, as you can understand, that's a bit subjective.
Do you have pictures sent from the DR company?

Agreed.

There are good data recovery companies in Brazil that can recover data from scratched platters (ours for example).

But as in all of the World now, there are a lot of new companies with almost no technology or experience that try to appeal to customers by charging very small fees.
This kind of companies probably won´t be able to recover this type of media damage, and even if they try they´ll probably end up damaging your media.

The logic of the price versus quality of service isn´t very difficult to understand:
Technology, infra-structure, experienced engineers and research departments costs a lot.

As we say to our customers, companies that doesn´t charge much probably doesn´t have too much to offer.
If you have a serious problem look for a serious company

I fully agree,

I've heard that seem experienced professionals saying it is not possible to recover data from scratched media. Including the division of Seagate Data Recovery in Brazil.

Some say yes, and charge a high rate for analysis.

Seems strange that there was no technology to access a hard drive even with a small risk, it does not seem something so complicated engineering.

What I would like to know if there was a company that currently available technology to access data on a scratched hd.

If your company has this technology please pass me the contact.
