I discovered this great tool a year or so ago but recently have been having a problem.

I am copying a SD card used as the main drive on an Arch Linux plug device to a compressed image. This is for backup purposes.

Everything seems to go well and the archive appears to be completed but right at the very end of the process, my Win8 desktop crashes. Info is saved, I get a light blue screen (the blue screen of death has a new color :-)) ) and my computer restarts. The info from what I believe to be the event log for this event follows.

I just copied the compressed file that was being created when the system crashed onto a spare card and it appears to be intact at least the plug device booted and running.

Hi,
So just so I understand it, you are putting the SD Card(the arch Linux OS on it) into a win 8 machine and using HDD Raw Copy Tool to back it up to a compressed image.

Thinking out loud..

1. Have you tried a different SD Card?
2. Are there any issues with HDD Raw Copy and Win8 Compatibility
3. Does it need to be "Run as Administrator"
4. Can you think of Anything that has changed since it worked and started not working? Any new software on Win 8 Machine?
5. Have you tried updating your BIOS and updating chipset drivers and storage drivers
6. Plenty of space on the HDD for file and temp files if they are needed, might need double the space of the image.
7. The fatDecodeFileObject may be an issue with your disk, have you scanned it for errors and made sure there is no problems.
8. Does the new image overwrite an old one, no problems with access to do this
9. have you tried to image it with another software program
