Hi all, newbie here I have installed this hdd in an Aspire One Netbook but it will accept Vista but not XP Pro.When purchased there was no mention of it being for Vista only ,but is this a possibility. If so how can I get it to accept XP is it possible?

You need SATA/AHCI driver integrated on your installation disk of XP. Then it will work

Shahij's right. Nothing to do with Vista/XP per se. You need the right drivers, just like with any other hardware (SATA/AHCI drivers come natively with Vista and onwards, but you'll need to integrate them if installing previous versions of Windows - or, IIRC, you can set your hard drive to an older working mode in BIOS, but that's sub optimal).

You can also try to disable AHCI in the computer bios and activate only SATA
