What do you mean "firmware corrupted" ?

Doesn't make sense, a HDD is not a cellphone!

What are symptoms of your problem?

Why don't you spend your money very wisely and take your drive to someone that knows what they are doing.

What exactly do you think the firmware update/reflash will fix?

What is this, like a 320GB? You don't say you need DATA but I am assuming you do else you probably wouldn't continue with such a small drive and just buy a replacement.

Do you understand that flashing firmware in a lot of cases can be destructive to your data? I urge you to be careful if it is data you need.

You should not assume you know the problem because there are many issues that can look almost the same to a regular user.

I don't think you have diagnosed the issue sufficiently yet.

What does CrystalDiskInfo say about your drive?

Can you upload CrystalDiskInfo's text report?

Your drive has around 2000 bad sectors and probably a lot more to come.

Well you are in for a very sad time because at that age, there are many more things that can start to go wrong.

You seriously are attached to that hard disk this much?

You need a new one, it is as simple as that

Firstly, your hard drive doesn't "work good". It has bad sectors!

Secondly, a firmware "flash" will not remove ATA password.

As you've been told several times, just buy a new HDD.

You've come here for advise, you've been given it. Sorry you don't like the answers!

If dban works at all then drive is not ATA password locked.
Bad sectors/bad surface/bad heads.
If you are trying to use dban then you don't need the data, then go buy another drive.
If you LOVE your drive buy an equal one on ebay...
Regards.

Yes, im use DBan in "Quick Zero" Command and he say is finish in 199 Hours, with one passed and 0 Rounds, LOL, DBan make 00.01% every 5 minutes, i think the erase could maybe regenerate or save some bad sector, but not have other via for config DBAn run more faster, maybe edit the DBAN.BZI with hexadecimal Program, for example ULTRAEDIT??

DBAN is a very great eraser, he can delete the ATA PASSWORD, he can delete ALL DATA IN THE DRIVE ,INCLUDE THE ROM.BIN IN THE FIRMWARE!!whem im run MHDD, He tell me this "THIS DRIVE IS LOCKED BY ATA PASSWORD" And security ON level HIGH ,im not put any password in my drive, i think some viruses can enable the security mode, one day im turn on my PC and is showed the drive is LOCKED!!

Please help me!!

DBAN does not erase the ROM. A secure erase can wipe a password protected drive if it knows the master password.
