The symptoms:
- disk spin up - but not always;
- If it spins the BIOS detects;
- But neither windows nor freebsd nor DOS no longer see;
- If I put it to USB case, the Windows 7 recognizes as a service sometimes , but the disk controller can no longer see it.

It was bootable disk but I have not use for system.
Could anyone has any idea? (I need the data only)

For starters, search keyword "rubber eraser" in the forum and read a bit.

Maybe you are on true, maybe corrosion in spinning contacts, very probably

Thanks the ideas but I have not time (and safety place - I have 3 kids... ) yet. But at the weekend I will resurrect the disk! (I hope!! )

The "rubber eraser" was success.
