Good morning friends ,,

i have this drive from a client , and it's encrypted using bitlocker .

drive has a weak head , and i could image it to another 1 TB drive successfully , except some LBAs that belongs to the weak head .

after i finished with the good heads , i tried to retry the failed blocked of the weak head , but drive is hanged now on BSY state ...

firing WDII- DFL and try to further diagonise the issue , i got the same result

first drive acting normally , DSC and DRDY , but once i request any thng , the BSY led with light up and nothing can be read off the drive again ,,

tried to fix the bitlocker on the partial image drive , and failed , appearantly the weak head holds critical data for the encryption ..

any help to squeeze more data of the drive ? thanks in advance

Well, how partial is your image? What does it miss?

And another point is, how did you try to fix bitlocker?

Short Tv9 and TV10 test point on PCB, start the drive, then after the drive id identified, remove shorts, initialize head 0, and read out all firmware modules, and solve the WD slow issue on module 02, and write that module back. Restart the drive and continue imaging with the weak head.
Good luck!

Update: - I see saltwater has also posted

+1 for what dmarques has posted.

It might need a head swap & then imaging of the weak head to finish off your full image.
Once you have gotten a full image on your good drive do you know the password or have the recovery key file?

Hello agan , and thanks for the hints .

well , H2 was completly off till LBA 65000000

after that all drive was imaged ,

i tried to fix bit locker using MS BitLocker Repair Tool.

@saltwater , i allready have a full copy of the drive's FW , so once i have SA access , i will overwrite 02 with the old good one ..

thanks for the hints , will report back to you in no time .

BTW

anyone recommends a solution other than microsoft's for repairing/recovering bitlocker as long as the recovery key/password is known ?

thanks again
