Hi,
i try today to swap my pcb from one ST3100528AS to another.
if i put power on the harddrive beginning to start and make rhymtical clickin' noiseses...
the pcb i put on the harddrive is working 100 percent - it have the same type number.
0912-23-18 GRC 18 V-0 - 100536501 Rev A
so what i must do to make it work?

I just did one of this model today...only had about a dozen read errors after it was cloned. I saved the ROM from the patient and donor PCBs, using PC3K. Then I wrote the patient ROM to donor PCB.

Just remember, the ROM on the PCB is unique to the drive. If you accidentally damage it, it is game over.

how do you realize the connection from the flash?
over TTL? or do u use a direct connection to the flash chip over soic grabbers?

Just as I said, using PC3K. Am I correct in assuming that the data isn't worth $350? You get it yourself, you save a few bucks...you make a simple mistake and the data is lost forever or the cost ends up being 10 times the price.

You can move over the ROM chip if you have soldering skills and are able to identify which chip it is. It's an 8 pin chip, if you upload a picture we can help you identify it.

So i can transfer the bios from one pcb to another without soldering.

Dear Guys,
i swapped the pcb bios from one board to the other.
now the harddrive take a run-up.
but the partions are not detected - the harddrive makes a beeping noise.
