Hello,

My WD my passport model number WD20NMVW is not showing up when plugged into and computer (Mac or PC). The drive makes a 1 second hum noise and then beep and does this over and over again.

It is similar to this video (not my drive and not the same model)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=to-pHF6BxgI

Do you think my drive is completely shot or possibly needs to have the PCB swapped?

I is still under warranty but I would really like to have the information recovered from it.

Thank you so much in advance for any help.

It sounds like the heads are positioned atop the platters, or else are mangled in the ramp.

This isn't a problem you can resolve yourself.

Agree, 99.99% nothing to do with PCB.

What they said ^^

Since this is a Shrek drive, just give it to a reputable DR company (contact Jon at http://www.datasaversllc.com/) and pray heads are intact. If not, then these drives are/can be very nasty.
