Good day, sirs.
Since I couldn't get to know exactly what the problem is with this 2,5" hard disk drive, I suppose that it is related to the r/w heads, so I managed to build a clean-air box for working hard disk drives and now I need a head replacement for this drive.
I just read this nice article of this site, and if I'm not wrong on interpreting the Table 1, I need a donor that is made in the same country and nothing else (for toshiba there's: Firmware = -, Country = +, Part number = -): is this correct?
So I began to dig the *bay and I found some expensive donors from the same country (that is Thailand in this case), so it'd be nice to get some less expensive replacement spare part heads instead of a whole "new" (or refurbished) drive: do somebody know where to order hard drive parts (brand-new and sealed in this case), into specific the r/w heads? Naturally I tried to search around and on the net but maybe I'm not so lucky!

This is the front label of the drive (that I already shown in one of my threads):

Thank you!

Welcome to Data Recovery World, where the donnor parts is expensive and its hard to find compatible drives.
Looking for parts to this drive you have to search from model MK5059GSXP and Family 59GSXP from the same country.
With contacts from suppliers the problem is the same, the price is high to but better with transport.

Unfortunately you really can't buy hard drive "parts" with the exception of the used PCBs pulled off of failed drives and sold on ebay. The r/w heads are generally manufactured by the company who makes the hard drive (Toshiba) and they have no interest in helping data recovery companies.

No choice but to bite the bullet and buy the donor drives to pull them out of. Sometimes you might get lucky and be able to use the same set of heads on two or three recoveries. But more often you'll be killing expensive parts while trying to recover data from a drive with media damage too small to see.

Unfortunately this is the primary reason why data recovery companies have to charge so much money. A large percent of each job is often spent on buying and destroying perfectly good drives.

Ok, but can anyone answer me about the first question?
Have I interpreted correctly the Table 1 of that page?
Is it sufficient to get a hard drive (same size, heads, cylinders, sectors, etc.) but only produced on the same country as the one I have to work on?

You need one drive with the same model MK5059GSXP and produced in the same region, in this case "Thailand". The donor drive should be compatible with the same number of heads.

Is it enough that is it a MK5059GSXP or should it be "HDD2J53 Z SL01 B" also ?
Thank you very much anyway.

If anyone else knows where to purchase that drive, from Thailand, for less than 120 $ (or less than 105€), please send me a PM.
Thank you!

Hello

just for the knowledge

in some of the Toshiba drives they also print the date of manufacturing

Obviously the closest it is the better it is, but do you have some experiences to share on the date tolerance?

(Also for others brands)

Thank you

In a country can not pay attention.
Important maps heads and version FW.
MK7559GSXP maximum capacity.
500 GB may be with any map heads.
FW:
A0/GN001U
B0/GK003U
A0/GK003A
E0/GQ005B
B0/GT102H
Some use compatible head, some are not.
Check that the patient PCB on donor.
Do not knock - head fit.
