good morning,

unfortunately my external drive western digital mybook fell and since then no longer worked.

inside there is a disk 2 tb WD20EARX.

unfortunately it had recently been connected to the laptop when he fell off the table, reconnecting recognized him as general unit but without the name nor the content, the disc continued to flash like loading without the ability to access data. some successful attempts to connect the damage effect that the disc is not seen by the computer that no one opens.

The noise you hear is:
https://soundcloud.com/eddie-stark/voce-038

is repeated every 2-3 minutes and then stop, the disc feels it is on but does not run.

the head can be blocked? in that case there should still show the model of the hard disk on computer?

thanks

If drive was dropped and spins down after 3 tries to read SA then its most likely damaged heads and also might be media damage in SA. You will have to take the drive to a professional DR for proper diagnosis. Don't turn the drive on again if your data is important.

thanks
I already had experience with damaged heads but he felt the head he tried to read and could not.
in this case however the noise is that of the hard disk that starts normally but does 2 times and the light is flashing for a long time and the disc is not recognized.

the head can be damaged or just blocked?

Blocked heads give a buzzing sound (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hSj_uE_BKM) , the sound you posted sounds quite normal (drive spins, seeks & reads sa)but i would think your drive does not read the SA correctly so is not recognized.

thanks

I tried to listen to all the sounds of defective discs but my western digital not appear anywhere.
the sound of broken heads is different, the engine failure is different, even the heads blocked.

I can not understand the nature of the defect, just out of curiosity because I would not do attempts at home to remedy the problem

which hypothesis specialist you like it?

sorry but what is SA?

thank you very much
