Hello,

I have a ST3320820A with PCB burnt. On the PCB there are 3 8-legged chips but just one of them start with 25xxxxx. I replaced this one but the disk still not working.

Does anyone know if one of the other 2 chips belongs to the ROM as well.

Picture of PCB below:

Thanks.

"ROM" chip is the top one.

How do you mean "still not working" ?

Still dead?

Hello,

Still not working means strange clicking noises. Heads are OK.

How do you know heads are OK?

You've changed the heads assembly, which includes preamp?

I just love posts like this.

It's like saying: "My hard drive is not working, but there's nothing wrong with it"

Thanks for all your suggestions.

Does anyone have a general guide to check PCB's? Like which components should be check and what expect from each one?

Thanks,
